Altar Servers
Altar servers play an important role in our worship. These young people of our parish assist the priests at Sunday and Holy Day Masses. All boys and girls in our parish fourth grade and above, are eligible for this ministry. Annual training sessions are held, and altar servers are assigned on a rotating basis.
Bereavement Support
To serve the parish and support individuals and families who grieve the death of a loved one
in and through a ministry of prayer, presence and education.
Choir/ Instrumentalists
Community Outreach
Community Outreach (The Social Concerns Committee) strives to meet the needs of the less fortunate within and beyond our parish boundaries.

Committee activities include helping those in the parish who are experiencing hardship, care of the homeless, various seasonal programs for senior citizens and shut-ins, food drives and fundraisers to benefit the poor and homeless. In addition, the committee sponsors the annual Sharing Tree during Advent.
Church Environment
The church decorating team prepares proper church decorations such as banners, altar cloths and flowers for both our churches. They help to enhance the community’s liturgical celebrations throughout the seasons of the church year by providing an inspiring and appropriate environment for worship.
Divorced and Separated Support
The Catholic’s Divorce Healing Program for the separated or divorced meets at Little Flower Parish in Berkeley
Heights for a 12 week program in the Spring and the Fall. Preregistration is required.Find comfort and counsel consistent with Catholic teaching; however, the group is open to all denominations.
Eucharistic Ministers
Parish Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion bring Communion to local nursing homes and to those parishioners confined to their homes. They also assist at Overlook Hospital. Other parishioners make friendly visits to our parish sick and shut-ins. We have biliungual ministers who can visit our Spanish speaking parishioners as well.
Food Cards
Support Little Flower Parish by making a donation to the church of $25.00 (or $50.00 or $100.00, etc) and we will give you back a Food Card for $25.00 (or $50.00 or $100.00). ShopRite and Stop&Shop cards are purchased by Little Flower Church at a discount, and sold at face value.
Food Pantry
The food pantry is open Saturdays 9-11 am at the rear of the Bernauer Parish Center, 290 Plainfield Ave.
Due to limited space/ no refrigeration, donations of boxed milk, canned stew or canned vegetables ONLY are accepted at the rear of the parish center during regular business hours.
Funeral Servers
Funeral Servers assist the priest at funeral Masses. Funerals are held on mornings at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM and take approximately one hour. Three servers are used at each funeral.
Duties include setting up the church before Mass, proclaiming the readings and petitions, assisting with the incense, and acting as an altar server.
Good Samaritans
The Good Samaritan members range in age from young children to seniors. Our purpose is to meet the needs of anyone who asks!
Homeless Ministry
The Homeless Ministry partners with Family Promise of Union County to provide a welcoming safe environment for guest families during several weeks each year.Volunteers are needed to serve as hosts and provide companionship, and food/supplies for these families.
Lectors are members of the parish who participate in liturgical celebrations by proclaiming the Word of God and reading the Prayers of the Faithful during Sunday and weekday Mass. To be eligible to be a lector, you must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic. Training sessions are provided to help lectors increase their knowledge of the Scriptures, build their confidence about speaking at Mass, and strive to proclaim the Good News with a spirit of enthusiasm and celebration.
MOMS Ministry
Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) calls women to gather together to create a community of support and encouragement through sharing and learning. In our vocation of motherhood, we often find ourselves in unfamiliar territory. MOMS offers the opportunity for spiritual, as well as personal, growth and guidance. We are the examples for our children; we are the ones who pass on our Catholic traditions. The good news is: we don’t have to do it alone.

Prayer Shawl +
We are currently making hats for chemotherapy patients, and hats and headbands for Covenant House in Newark, but we welcome all projects! Come make a hat, make a shawl, and just make a difference!
Respect Life
The purpose of the Respect Life Committee, together with the Archdiocese of Newark and the universal Church, is to raise consciousness, educate and motivate all persons to a reverence for all human life from the moment of conception to natural death and to witness against the "culture of death" that pervades our world.
Rosary Society
The Rosary Society at the Church of the Little Flower comes together for spiritual and charitable ministry. The group prays the rosary for the deceased members and for the sick of our parish.
St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen
Volunteers from Little Flower Parish provide food, cook, and/or serve meals to the homeless at St. Joseph's Social Center in Elizabeth. The group serves on the second Saturday of every other month, beginning with January of the new year.
The ushers perform an essential role at Eucharistic celebrations on weekends, holy days and special occasions. They are responsible for greeting worshippers as they arrive for Mass, assisting people in locating a seat, passing the collection baskets, inviting people to bring the gifts to the altar as part of the offertory procession, distributing bulletins to worshippers as they leave Mass and being available to provide assistance to people during Mass.
Women's Spiritual Sharing
For the women of the Parish, this group meets for spiritual support and experience the many blessings that come from sharing, praying and ministering to each other. We read spiritual books that we then apply to our own lives and share with each other. Our purpose is to grow in our love for Jesus, ourselves and each other.
CLF You Are Mine
A support group that creates a safe space for loved ones of LGBTQ individuals to share. We seek to live the Church’s teaching that states that LGBTQ members should be “accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity”(CCC #2358).
