Ministry For Families Experiencing Homelessness

Prepared meal request-1.png

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34

Families continue to experience homelessness in an environment with limited options for affordable housing. We partner with Family Promise of Union County to address the needs of this disadvantaged population.
Service dates vary throughout the year.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of the below opportunities, contact homelessministry.lf@gmail.com

ASSIST

Support a family in the Family Promise Stabilization Program.

Without assistance this family could find themselves unhoused. The mom is seeking employment in health care, a car, child care, and work clothes. To assist, donations can be made here.

Or you can donate by check payable to Family Promise Union County,  905 Watchung Ave, Plainfield, NJ 07060. Indicate in the check memo line: "PR – Church of the Little Flower".

PROVIDE

Several times a year, we ask for meals to be prepared for families in the Family Promise shelter apartments. These families are experiencing homelessness. Other needs include diapers, wipes, formula, and Shoprite and Uber/Lyft gift cards.

DELIVER

Deliver meals and items to families in Family Promise shelter apartments in Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway and New Providence. You must be Safe Environment Compliant. Contact Dan at the parish center to check your status.

TRANSPORT

Share My Meals is a nonprofit working with Family Promise, collecting food donated by Overlook Hospital and Bristol Myers Squibb.  This occurs on every 4 - 6 weeks on Friday afternoons. The food trays are delivered to the Family Promise office in Plainfield, NJ. There is a prerequisite for online training from Share My Meals.
