10th Annual Men's Breakfast
Spiritual Wisdom
and Practices for the Workday
with Dr. Patrick Manning

December 12, 2026

8 am - 12 pm

This presentation shows how the Christian contemplative tradition offers practical ways to weave prayer and awareness of God into the modern workday. Confronting the pressures of busyness and distraction, it invites participants to rethink their relationship to time by entering a deeper sense of God’s presence. Drawing on Scripture, spiritual writers, and contemporary insights, it introduces simple practices—intentional pauses, attentiveness in work, and rhythms of rest—that can fit naturally into daily life. These practices cultivate spiritual rootedness as well as greater clarity, creativity, and well‑being.

Dr. Patrick Manning is a practical theologian specializing in religious education and catechesis. With experience in parish ministry and Catholic education, he holds advanced degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Boston College. His current work focuses on methods of faith formation, Christian spirituality, and contemplative pedagogy, alongside interests in theological anthropology, evangelization, and the relationship between faith and culture. His book Be Still and Know: Christian Contemplative Practices for Schools and Educators (Eerdmans, 2025) invites readers to discover how contemplative wisdom can transform school life—enhancing teaching and learning, supporting mental and spiritual health, and strengthening community.
